A lame attempt to keep this blog alive. Love her accent when she says "come" back.
Ah :)
Lyrics | [−] |
For you I'm gonna try to right all my wrongs
For you I'm gonna break my bad habits
There's a golden ring and I want you to have it
There's a golden ring and I want you
For you I'm gonna sit and patiently wait
It's great if you're early but if it's fine if you're late
For you I feel love and I just want to show it
You're a beautiful girl and want you to know it
You're a beautiful girl and want you to know it
You're a beautiful girl and want you to know it
It's an infinite world and I want you
Once again I am opened
Once again I am opened
Once again I am opened
Once again I am opened
For you I'm waiting on the ticket line
I gotta get back I don't wanna waste time
But the people are tired and the line is so long
So all I can do is sing this song
Earthbound Starlight (YouTube Link)
Check out the website of the new album Whisper House and know the story behind it.
Lyrics | [−] |
Is it the truth or a strange fantasy?
Whenever you're watching
You're changing the scene
Time is a place, this place is a song
Where mothers are distant and fathers are gone
He too may be watching but he's not letting on
Can't dry your eyes
Or say it's alright
Even though he might
And she can't kiss your cheek
As the days become weeks
No rewind
No repeats
Days, nights, wrongs, rights, earthbound starlight
Hey, are you listening?
What is the sound of things that you lose that you never have found?
You're finding the way
Or turning around
Dancer with destiny
Tempter of fate
The life that you lived is only a taste
Sometimes the sweetest is the time that you waste
I won't dry your eyes
Or say it's alright
'Cause sometimes that's the lie
[ Duncan Sheik Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]
Even if she kissed your cheek
Still the days become weeks
No rewind
No repeats
Steal your heart
Life is hard
Never easy, believe me
Need no more questions
Maybes are mights
Darkness descends, run out of light
When you go blind
You get second sight
The deeper you dive
The greater the heights
So don't dry your eyes
Or say it's alright
Life is hard
It's a fight
Even if she kissed your cheek
Still the days become weeks
No rewind
No repeats
As the days become weeks
No remind
No repeats
Days, nights, wrongs, rights, earthbound starlight
The song which made me come back to listening to Dave Matthews again. Courtesy my friend's YouTube playlist.
Excuse me please one more drink
Could you make it strong cause I don’t need to think
She broke my heart my Grace is gone
One more drink and I’ll move on
One more drink and I’ll be gone
And again, the lyrics need some doing!
Times Like These
Lyrics | [−] |
times like these
you and me layin on a floor
on times like these
what on earth is worth livin for
but times like these
as i turn to you and ask in vain
but still you dont say
a moment please is all i ask from you
to stake my case
as i lean in ever close to kiss your face
i've seen a thousand times we have replayed all this what ....
still i turn to you and ask in vain
but still you dont say
love alone will never save us
this wicked life might never leave us
take it down to peter's lounge
and wait around till familiar sound of
penny drops on ....
gonna go straight down to live a life.............
and you dont say
Better Days
I didn't find the lyrics anywhere so tried to listen to the song and write it down. A couple of words still beat me. If you are able to follow, please let me know.
Lyrics | [−] |
yesterday
holdin on tight
feelin alright thinkin of
yesterday
and even though i never said it to you
im waitin in line to give it to you
and even though i never got it from you
im still wasting my time tyrin to give it to you
still i try
to hold on for better days
so let it slide
still i pray
prayin for better days
so let it slide down and down and down and down
today .. today .. today im gonna fade away
standing on my own two feet
walking on what i feel is
solid ground
........ another man's
dreams just until i find my own
way home from here
isnt it strange
that as we grow old we tend to walk away from
a little less pain
to something that's easier to fit into our frame
still i try
to hold on for better days
so let it slide
still i pray
praying for better days
so let it slide down and down and down and down
today .. today .. today im gonna fade away
Lyrics | [−] |
Happens late at night
When the moon smiles down on me
And bathes me in it’s light
I fell asleep beneath you
In the tall blades of grass
When I woke the world was new
I never had to ask
It’s a brand new day
The sun is shinning
It’s a brand new day
For the first time
In such a long long time
I know
I’ll be ok
Most kind of stories
Save the best part for last
Most stories have a hero who finds
You make your past your past
Ya you make your past your past
It’s a brand new day
The sun is shinning
It’s a brand new day
For the first time
In such a long long time
I know
I’ll be ok
This cycle never ends
Gotta fall in order to mend
And it’s a brand new day
It’s a brand new day
For the first time
Inn such a long long time
I know
I’ll be ok
Francis sang the song when he was with us a couple of weeks ago. And that's how I was reminded of it again. I had heard it before too. Probably in some TV series. Or maybe Pandora/Jango. It's just too good to not have a place here.
Lyrics | [−] |
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square can't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true
Hey there Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there Delilah here's to you
This ones for you
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Started listening to Carbon Leaf after a friend sent a few new songs. And found this gem.
What About Everything
What about my life so far?
What about my dream?
What about.....
Lyrics | [−] |
That didn't fall with the fall, and now they clatter in vain
Holiday sky. Midnight clear. Wind is high, hard to steer
Old muffler rumbles like an old fighter plane
In search of some rest. In search of a break
From a life of tests where something's always at stake
Where something's always so far
What about my broken car?
What about my life so far?
What about my dream?
What about.....
What about everything?
What about aeroplanes?
And what about ships that drank the sea?
What about...
What about the moon and stars?
What about soldier battle scars
And all the anger that they eat?
I am not in need.
Get away and come with me.
Come away with me and we'll see
If I was right on that night, that a future was made
Before time takes each year, like a knife cuts it clear
It's school, then work and then life that just sharpens the blade
I think about time for fun. I think about time for play
Then I think about being done, with no resume
With no one left to blame
What about fortune and fame?
What about your love to obtain?
What about the ring?
What about....
What about everything?
What about aeroplanes?
And what about ships that drank the sea?
What about...
What about the moon and stars? What about soldier battle scars
And all the anger that they eat?
I am not in need.
Holiday quiet on these streets, except for some reason me
The hometown harbor lights bright, the sailboats clatter in vain
Holiday sky. Midnight clear. Wind is high on this pier
I find it hard to complain when compared with what about...
What about everything?
What about aeroplanes?
And what about ships that drank the sea?
What about...
What about the moon and stars?
What about soldier battle scars
And all the anger that they eat?
What about...
What about aliens? What about you and me and...
What about gold beneath the sea?
What about...
What about when buildings fall?
What about that midnight phone call...
The one that wakes you from your peace?
Well, I am not, I am not, I am not in need.
It should be worthwhile checking out a few more of their songs like Learn to Fly and Any Given Day.
And also this one: Boxer. The Celtic influence on this one is quite noticeable.
The Riddle
Lyrics | [−] |
Whose heart ran out of summers
But before he died, I asked him
Wait, what's the sense in life
Come over me, Come over me
He said,
"Son why you got to sing that tune
Catch a Dylan song or some eclipse of the moon
Let an angel swing and make you swoon
Then you will see... You will see."
Then he said,
"Here's a riddle for yah
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I..."
Picked up my kid from school today
Did you learn anything 'cause in in the world today
You can't live in a castle far away
Now talk to me, come talk to me
He said,
"Dad I'm big but we're smaller than small
In the scheme of things, well we're nothing at all
Still every mother's child sings a lonely song
So play with me, come play with me"
And Hey Dad
Here's a riddle for yah
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...
I said,
"Son for all I've told yah
When you get right down to the
Reason for the world...
Who am I?"
There are secrets that we still have left to find
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time
There are answers we're not wise enough to see
He said... You looking for a clue I Love You free...
The batter swings and the summer flies
As I look into my angel's eyes
A song plays on while the moon is high over me
Something comes over me
I guess we're big and I guess we're small
If you think about it man you know we got it all
Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball
And I love you free
I love you freely
Here's a riddle for yah
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...
He has composed the music for this one and written the lyrics. And here's more.
On THE WRESTLER, Springsteen handles guitar, piano, and vocals. Director Darren Aronofsky described it as "a wonderful acoustic piece; makes me choke up every time I hear it. [Springsteen] really captured the spirit of the film and Mickey [Rourke]'s character in the piece."

There's new found respect for this guy.
The Wrestler
"Have you ever seen a one legged man tryin' to dance his way free
If you've ever seen a one legged man then you've seen me"
Lyrics | [−] |
Have you ever seen a one trick pony in the field so happy and free
If you've ever seen a one trick pony then you've seen me
Have you ever seen a one legged dog makin' his way down the street
If you've ever seen a one legged dog then you've seen me
(Then you've seen me) I come and stand at every door
(Then you've seen me) I always leave with less than I had before
(Then you've seen me) bet I can make you smile when the blood it hits the floor
Tell me friend can you ask for anything more
Tell me can you ask for anything more
Have you ever seen a scarecrow filled with nothing but dust and weeds
If you've ever seen that scarecrow then you've seen me
Have you ever seen a one armed man punchin' at nothing but the breeze
If you've ever seen a one armed man then you've seen me
(Then you've seen me) I come and stand at every door
(Then you've seen me) I always leave with less than I had before
(Then you've seen me) bet I can make you smile when the blood it hits the floor
Tell me friend can you ask for anything more
Tell me can you ask for anything more
These things that have comforted me I drive away (anything more)
This place that is my home I cannot stay (anything more)
My only faith is in the broken bones and bruises I display
Have you ever seen a one legged man tryin' to dance his way free
If you've ever seen a one legged man then you've seen me
Har tufaan se ladne ko tayyar hai OBAMA...
This is HILARIOUS.
For what it's worth, I think the song is really catchy!

Somewhere Only We Know
Lyrics | [−] |
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth, beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when, you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin.
I came across, a fallen elm tree,
I felt the branches; are they looking at me?
Is this the place, we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when, you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know.
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything.
So why don't we go, so why don't we go.
Hmmm yeahh.
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, somewhere only we know,
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know
The New York Times in 1989 asserted that the genre is "guitar music first of all, with guitars that blast out power chords, pick out chiming riffs, buzz with fuzztone and squeal in feedback."Source: Wikipedia (full article)
As someone with a working knowledge of a guitar, I do get the part about the power chords and buzz. But to me, it's essentially "guitar music" (or at times Piano) which sounds different from Classic Rock.
Lyrics | [−] |
As I'm leaving the one I want to take
Forgive the urgency but hurry up and wait
My heart has started to separate
Oh, oh,
Be my baby
Ohhhhh
Oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
There now, steady love, so few come and don't go
Will you won't you, be the one I'll always know
When I'm losing my control, the city spins around
You're the only one who knows, you slow it down
Oh, oh
Be my baby
Ohhhhhh
Oh, oh
Be my Baby
I'll look after you
And I'll look after you
If ever there was a doubt
My love she leans into me
This most assuredly counts
She says most assuredly
Oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
After You
Oh, oh
Be my baby
Ohhhhh
It's always have and never hold
You've begun to feel like home
What's mine is yours to leave or take
What's mine is yours to make your own
Oh, oh
Be my baby
Ohhhhh
Oh, oh
Be my baby
I'll look after you
You are so beautiful to me
Operator
Lyrics | [−] |
You see the number on the matchbook is old and faded
She's livin' in L.A.
With my best old ex-friend Ray
A guy she said she knew well and sometimes hated
Isn't that the way they say it goes
But let's forget all that
And give me the number if you can find it
So I can call just to tell them I'm fine and to show
I've overcome the blow
I've learned to take it well
I only wish my words could just convince myself
***That it just wasn't real***
But that's not the way it feels
Operator, oh could you help me place this call
'Cause I can't read the number that you just gave me
There's something in my eye's
You know it happens every time
I think about the love that I thought would save me
Isn't that the way they say it goes
But let's forget all that
And give me the number if you can find it
So I can call just to tell them I'm fine and to show
I've overcome the blow
I've learned to take it well
I only wish my words could just convince myself
That it just wasn't real
But that's not the way it feels
No no no no
Thats not the way it feels
Operator oh let's forget about this call
There's no one there I really wanted to talk to
Thank you for your time
Oh you've been so much more than kind
And you can keep the dime
Isn't that the way they say it goes
But let's forget all that
And give me the number if you can find it
So I can call just to tell them I'm fine and to show
I've overcome the blow
I've learned to take it well
I only wish my words could just convince myself
That it just wasn't real
But that's not the way it feels
Lyrics | [−] |
I don't do that much talking these days
These days--
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
For you
And all the times I had the chance to
And I had a lover
It's so hard to risk another these days
These days--
Now if I seem to be afraid
To live the life I have made in song
Well it's just that I've been losing for so long
I'll keep on moving
Things are bound to be improving these days
One of these days--
These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend
Don't confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them
When I Dream ...
Lyrics | [−] |
But you want to be my friend
There are bodies on the ceiling
And they are fluttering their wings
It's ok, I'm angry
But you'll never understand
You dream of Michelangelo
They hang above your hands
And I know, she is not my friend
And I know, cuz there she goes
Walking on my skin again
And I can't see why
You want to talk to me
When your vision of America
Is crystal and clean
I wanna white bread life
Just something ignorant in the rain
But from the walls of Michelangelo
I'm dangling again
And I know, she is not my friend
And I know, cuz there she goes
Walking on my skin again and again
Saturn on a line
The sun afire of strings and wires
Spin above my head and make it right
Anytime you'd like, you can catch a sight
Of angel eyes on emptiness and infinite
And I dream of Michelangelo when I'm lying in my bed
I see God upon the ceiling
I see angels overhead
And he seems so close
As he reaches out his hand
We are never quite as close
As we are led to understand
And I know, she is not my friend
And I know, cuz there
She goes walking walking walking
And I know, she is not my friend
And I know, cuz there she goes
Walking on my skin again and again
On my mind
Oh Lord No
Yes she's walking on my skin
Again and again
One of my friends is rediscovering Cat Stevens. I thought I will join him.
How Can I Tell You
Lyrics | [−] |
But I cant think of right words to say
I long to tell you that Im always thinking of you
Im always thinking of you, but my words
Just blow away, just blow away
It always ends up to one thing, honey
And I cant think of right words to say
Wherever I am girl, Im always walking with you
Im always walking with you, but I look and youre not there
Whoever Im with, Im always, always talking to you
Im always talking to you, and Im sad that
You cant hear, sad that you cant hear
It always ends up to one thing, honey,
When I look and youre not there
I need to know you, need to feel my arms around you
Feel my arms around you, like a sea around a shore
And -- each night and day I pray, in hope
That I might find you, in hope that I might
Find you, because hearts can do no more
It always ends up to one thing honey, still I kneel upon the floor
How can I tell you that I love you, I love you
But I cant think of right words to say
I long to tell you that Im always thinking of you
Im always thinking of you....
It always ends up to one thing honey
And I cant think of right words to say
chehre pe likh ke laaya hoon
tumse kya maangoon main
tum khud hi samajh lo
Arziyan
daraarein daraarein hain maathe pe maula
marammat mukaddar ki kar do maula
I'm awed by this man's talent. And Prasoon Joshi writes some beautiful lines to make this the best song I have heard in a long time.
